While most webmasters concentrate on getting visitors to their websites, smart website owners concentrate on getting visitors to come back again and again, developing an audience who has passion and interest in their website and product.

Here are 5 ways to get your website visitors coming back for more:

1. Start a Blog – Blog about things going on in your industry, new products and sales. Get involved with other bloggers in your niches, and encourage new visitors to sign up for your RSS feed.
2. Email – You are capturing your visitors email address, right? Let subscribers know about new deals, new content and new products that they may be interested in. Create special coupons only for email customers to encourage visitors to sign up.
3. Content – Create compelling content (Video, Music or Articles) that brings visitors back for more. Even though it may not be your main product, sticky content will bring back visitors to your site and eventually turn them into buyers.
4. Twitter – Twitter is a micro blogging platform that is very popular right now. By letting visitors who have already subscribed to your Twitter feed, you can let them know about new content on your website. Since they subscribed, it's obvious they want to be informed of what's going on your site.
5. Break Content into Parts – If you've developed compelling content, try breaking it into a series. For example, a video can be broken into 2 or 3 chapters and shown over the course of a few days or a week, in order to keep visitors interested and coming back for more.

5 Tips to Convert those Window Shoppers to Buyers

But when you’re an online business, you’re looking to convert those visitors, both random and otherwise, into revenue, which means you have to make them buy what you have to sell, not just come by, look around and go elsewhere with their credit cards. Here’s how you can get them to do just that:

• Easy does it: People are looking for convenience in every aspect of their lives – they want to do things easily and in the shortest time possible. Make the buying process as simple as possible – offer them a neat display of items and prices with a searchable database to start with, and refrain from asking them unnecessary questions when they click the BUY link. Display prices prominently so that they don’t have to open additional pages to see what the product’s going to cost them. In short, make the number of steps from decision to buy to the actual purchase the minimum. If you want additional information, ask them for it after the sale is complete.

• Comeback tricks: Get your customers to shop with you again and again by keeping them informed of deals and sales on your site. For those who’ve stopped by and left without buying, track what they’re interested in and send them emails when these items are on sale or available at a lower price.

• Holiday cheer: Use holidays to boost your sales by offering more for less. People love the idea of a sale, so it’s up to you to get them to buy from your site rather than brave the shopping crowds at the malls. Start early, and offer your customers early-bird discounts for those who buy first. Similarly, you could sell all your remaining holiday items at a discount the last two days before the big day, a sort of bonus for stragglers.

• Information pays: Make your site informative so that customers don’t leave when they don’t find answers. Make sure that policies pertaining to returns and privacy are displayed prominently on your FAQ page, and not hidden in the fine print. You may be able to take customers for a ride once, but if you think they’re going to continue to offer you their patronage after being bamboozled, you’ve certainly got another think coming.

• Perk up: Customers love the fact that they’re getting something extra special at your online store, so throw in the mail-in rebates, the discounts for shopping online, the secure channel for credit card transactions, free shipping, and numbers to track their delivery online.

Google Co-founder Sergey Brin makes debut to Blogging

Google Co-founder Sergey Brin makes his debut to Blogosphere and has started his personal blog called simply "TOO".

In his first ever Blog post he writes - "Welcome to my personal blog. While Google is a play on googol, too is a play on the much smaller number - two. It also means "in addition", as this blog reflects my life outside of work". This first post by Sergey Brin has been published on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 12:00 PM.

In his blog post Brin wrote of his mother being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and how testing by 23andMe, a company started by his wife Anne Wojcicki, shows he has a gene mutation that "markedly" increases his chances of getting the illness.

Google Blogger added new feature - "Follow your favorite blogs"

On 10th September, 2008 Google Blogger Team introduced a new feature for Blogger user's "Follow your favorite blogs" that lets you easily follow your favorite blogs and tell the world that you’re a fan.

Many Social Networking web site's like BlogCatalog, Stumbleupon offers such community building service to online users. Mybloglog (YAHOO) pioneer in offering this facility where mybloglog users can show up their community and follower's by displaying Mybloglog Widgets on website/blog.

Micro-blogging site Twitter also shows up such statistic's on Number of Follower's, Number of people you are following on and your tweet updates.

Good to hear that Google has realised potential of Web 2.0 and by adding new feature "Follow your favorite blogs" on Blogger indicates that Google team is moving towards social networking.


How to Use "Follow your favorite blogs" on Blogger:-

To follow a blog with the Followers' Gadget, simply click the “Follow This Blog” link. You can show your support for the blog by following it right from your Blogger Dashboard or in Google Reader.
